Clarissa Harlowe "Clara" Barton was a pioneer nurse who founded the American Red Cross. In addition to being a nurse, she worked as a teacher, patent clerk, and humanitarian. At a time when relatively few women worked outside the home, Barton built a career helping others. She was never married, as she knew the restrictions of a married women at the time, but had a relationship with John J. Elwell. During the end of the American Civil War, Barton worked at a hospital she made helping the people at the Anderson prison camp where 13,000 people died. — at Founders Hall at Milton Hershey School.

Lt. Gen. Richard Zilmer, U.S. Marine Corps, retired. Zilmer, a graduate of Milton Hershey School and Kutztown State College, led the Multinational Forces-West in Iraq’s Anbar province as a two-star general in 2006 and 2007. Zilmer commanded the Marine Expeditionary Force and Marine Corps Bases Japan, out of Okinawa, from June 2007 through September 2009. He retired in 2010. — at Founders Hall at Milton Hershey School.

911 Hero - Leonard Lavin, Lancaster County 911 dispatcher, successfully prevented a suicide by talking to the despondent man and convincing him to hand over his cell phone to a waiting police officer, thus allowing the officer to get close enough to grab him and save his life. Fire Fighter Hero - Brian Enterline, acting chief of the Harrisburg Fire Department. Enterline, according to the Red Cross, has brought a community service mindset to the department, focusing heavily on preventing fires and other emergencies and caring for those displaced by fire, while maintaining swift and professional response to prevent loss of property. — at Founders Hall at Milton Hershey School.

Good Samaritans - Millersville University Marauder baseball team, Tyler McDonald, Tyler Orris, Tyler Thomas, Dan Stoltzfus, Evan King, Zach Stone and David Pine, who while going to get a snack on the way to play in a baseball tournament, came to aid of a toddler who went into cardiac arrest, performed CPR and saved the child’s life. — at Founders Hall at Milton Hershey School.

Law Enforcement Heros - Lancaster Police Force Platoon A, Jason Zahm, J.F. Hatfield, David Rachor, Sgt. Mark Radmore, Matthew Caple, Jared Snader, Sgt. Jeffrey Haas and William Hamby, rescued people during a fire on Clay Street in Lancaster. They assisted the fire company by moving equipment to needed areas, carrying and transporting victims to the hospital in order to minimize the time to treatment — at Founders Hall at Milton Hershey School.

Harrisburg Stampede Corporate Challenge WINNER!

Takia Colston-Krow, Stampede VP of Marketing and Sales, announced today that SERVPRO Hershey/Swatara was the winner of the 1st Annual Corporate Partner Challenge and the American Red Cross, the beneficiary, would receive a check in the amount of $2,500 at the Stampede's home season finale this Saturday at Giant Center.

"This program was created as a way for our organization to work alongside our corporate partners to benefit a community organization of their choice" says Takia.
